As a founding member of Soho House Hong Kong; I wish to share with you my experiences. When I signed up at the end of 2018, I was told that the Soho House Hong Kong would open in March 2019 so the founding members paid for a whole year starting from January 2019; the club did not open until September 2019 and none of the founding members were even informed about the launch. I was told when I walked past the building, stuck my head in and asked them what the status of the launch was in around October 2019 and was told that the club was already open. There is no means of communication with anyone. The website has no way for anyone to make comments and or send through feedback. There are a few people handling “m
emberships” but they never replied to any of my emails and having spoken to one of them I realised quickly that they were not given the authority to make any decisions. We don’t know who the general manager, we don’t know who is managing the club and how we can channel complaints. Instead members are being fobbed off to lackies who had only worked at the club for a few months with no experience. The Founding members had paid for a whole year but only got to use the house for 3 months, and when I wrote to them saying that this was a little off – no reply was forthcoming. All attempts to communicate with them went answered. The only communication I got was from Bernice Coyle who asked for more money and all communications to her went unanswered.
I have given up even trying to create a line of communication therefore have resorted to posting up on this blog about my personal experiences because all of my emails have gone unanswered. They seem to be 100% focused on making money and 0% committed to listening to what the members have to say; the only communication you will be guaranteed to receive is the request for more money. If you try to reply to that it would end up in a black hole and no reply would be forthcoming. Overall, I am not impressed. The drinks are overpriced, the food is overpriced and rubbish; the wine list is terrible and overpriced; no parking is available.
The London house seems to be much better run and the only reason why I would want to join Soho House in Hong Kong is for the other clubs; if it was just for the house in Hong Kong I would strongly advise against it; the whole operation is poorly run and they have some pretty inexperienced people handling memberships and managing the club.
Unfortunately, I have resorted to writing about the club hereunder because there is nobody you could write to.
Fees are paid but no benefits; the place is a scam; check out this link:-
